Kim’s work with clients over the past 13 years has taken place in various settings, including disability employment services, employee assistance programs (EAP), critical incident response, mental health and counselling support in community organisations associated with medical conditions such as HIV and Dementia.
Kim has experience using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Psychological First Aid, and has delivered group therapy programs and workshops around a range of topics.
Kim is experienced in providing short term professional counselling services for employees to address work and personal related issues. Kim’s support is solution focussed and due to the time limited nature of support is targeted to the development of strategies to address the specific concern that has motivated attendance to EAP counselling. She can also provide debriefing and counselling support after a critical incident.
Kim is also skilled in providing support on a range of other mental health conditions and concerns including anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, relationship challenges, grief and loss and chronic health conditions that can impact significantly on living life. Kim will support you to overcome negative events and effects in different areas of your life including personal and family relationships, work performance, and life satisfaction. She is dedicated to helping you increase your capacity to cope with concerns and situations in your external environment and adapting your own behaviours, thoughts and actions that may be acting as barriers to you living a life worth living and improving overall quality of life.
One of Kim’s key strengths is her ability to create a warm and empathic environment that allows you to talk freely with dignity and vulnerability. Kim values your experience and knowledge of yourself and will assist you to draw on your own resources during the therapy process. She will think with you about what has brought you to therapy and identify the desired outcomes you would like to achieve from the therapy process. Your treatment will be based on your own goals, preferences and a shared understanding of your difficulties. Her approach to therapy is flexible and adaptive to ensure that the treatment caters to your needs.
