Why don’t professionals invest in their own mental health wellbeing. Why do you, as a professional, have to wait for a crisis before deciding to invest in your own preventative education.

This ‘wait ‘til its urgent’ attitude is true for many people, but for professionals who work directly with other people, often helping professions, managing others, leading big groups, your mental wellbeing is an important workplace tool.  It’s the little picture vs the big picture. In the little picture you are in the workplace doing your job. In the big picture you are performing your job as intended by connecting with clients, teams and others, it is about your relationships in the workplace. It is you connecting with clients, teams, others.

Big picture is connecting with clients and stakeholders. It is about all your relationships in your workplace and your ability to make connections that allows you to fulfil your roles every day. Preventative wellbeing is essential for you to do the work that you do, everyday.

Think dentist, regular check up, scale and clean keeps our teeth in good order, they work well for us and we don’t have painful episodes where we can’t eat properly.

Preventative wellbeing is exactly the same, our relationship making ability, making connections, being flexible and adaptable and most of all being happy in our workplace depends on a preventative wellbeing approach that is regular and manageable. Do the maths – what is the cost of not maintaining mental wellbeing, what is the ROI of preventative wellbeing? EAP is tax deductable, free counselling sessions (for you and your children), to be the best at work and at home.
